Sunset on Mama's birthday

Today was my mom’s 68th birthday. Shhh! Don’t tell her, I told you that J

It was a nice day; very beautiful, warm and sunny.

My brother and sister in law were there too. Mom and dad were happy to have us all together. Stephen was so excited to see everyone, he couldn’t stop hugging, kissing and patting everyone on their back! I believe he thought the party was for him, and in a way it was, for he is always the center of attention. This made Rocky (my parent’s 12 year old dachshund) very jealous, and when he wasn’t barking and growling at the site of Stephen, he was behind the sofa, barking and growling at the sound of him. LOL!

We had cake and ice cream (I bough myself a small angel food cake, because (I know this sounds weird) I hate chocolate cake and chocolate ice cream, which is my mom’s (and most women’s favorite flavor) In fact, I’m beginning to think I am allergic to chocolate. It makes me very sick, which is sad bc it used to be my number one comfort food before I had Stephen.

Someday soon, I will write about my mom’s birthday, or write a birthday poem for her with more pictures, etc. But I am too tired to move. As most of you already know, I’ve been helping take care of mom and things around their house since Dec. 16th. Last week, daddy was working in Mississippi and came home on Friday with food poisoning and we had to take him to the Dr. and do some errands for them. Saturday, he was still pretty weak, so I helped him do his shopping for Mom’s birthday gifts. I feel like I have been out of the circle and ignoring all of you… For that, I am so sorry. Please know that I miss each of you and I appreciate all of the comments and email.

The above photo is taken in the field behind the street we live on. I pass this every day, and admire the sunset. I always say to myself, “darn, I wish I had my camera.” and today, I did. Isn’t it magnificent? The colors and the mountain in the background took my breath away this evening.

I am very tired. I am going to get Stephen’s school clothes together for school tomorrow. I am giving my mom a perm and h/c tomorrow and lots of other things to do. I need my rest. I’ll update soon! Love you all!

Mia ~ You've mentioned before how you jump topics - and tonight your 'cake and ice cream' paragraph reminded me so much of Ellen Degeneres. I got a nice hearty laugh, as if you were right here with me. Happy Birthday to your mom. I can just see Stephen going around the room. Cutie pie. Wish I could've been there! Get some rest. We'll catch up soon! Love you honey! xo

I enjoy coming to your journal because there is always such a warm family connection here. I pay rapt attention to your relationship with Stephen because it teaches me so much about patience and love. Take care of yourself and I will look forward to your next entry.
~All the best,
RC

Did you throw up a lot of chocolate at some point during your pregnancy?? Maybe that's why you have this aversion to it now? Anyway.. Happy Birthday to Mom!!! And yes, the photo is BEAUTIFUL. I bet it was even more beautiful in real life. Pictures never really capture it. Ahhhh...

P.S. Come cut my hair!!!!!! LOL

Happy birthday to your Mom.... I won't tell her that you told me she's 68, if you don't tell mine that I told you she's 65... : )

The sunset is beautiful.... I LOVE sunsets, the end to a day whether good or bad, and the hope that tomorrow will be just as good or better.

My mom is 6 days less-young than your Mom. : )
... thanks for your other comment ... I think we were related in a previous life.
Now stop reading and go give The Mighty Stephen a big hug.

You are such a kind, caring person, Mia. How lucky your parents are to have a daughter like you!

My parents, funnily enough...have an 11 year old miniature dachshund. His name is Oscar and he's a cutie. =)

XO ~ Bridgett

p.s. Get some rest!

Allergic of chocolate?! Aww Mia, say it ain't so! I can't imagine not having chocolate because it's bad for me, argh.

I'm glad you had a wonderful time with your mom on her birthday, and it seem Stephen did, too! You two sure had a challenging last few weeks. Sorry to hear about your Dad, food poisoning is the pits, I had it once before. Is he ok now?

Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my mom's bday. I'll have to tell her all about it :)

Mara~Yes, daddy is fine now. Eating everything he wants, except he says he'll never eat squash again, bc that's what made him sick. :-/ I hope he still plants some this spring...
