It's going to be a long week

Only a true little trooper would smile like this, when he is having back to back asthma attacks, fever and an ear infection. I’ve gotta tell ya, I sure don’t have it in me to be this brave. What a guy J

Yesterday, we took Stephen to the Dr. bc he’d been coughing all weekend, and had a mild fever. To make things a bit more interesting, he decided on Sunday evening that he’d give raw hamburger meat a try, while his dad was making a burger! If you know me, you realize that I completely freaked! All we can do is watch him close for any changes. His Dr. said that chances are, he’ll be just fine. I’d rather hear, “He’ll be fine, no doubt. Don’t worry, a little raw hamburger won’t kill ya.” That would make me feel at ease. “Chances are, he’ll be fine” just isn’t good enough for me. So, I will worry like I always do anyway, for the next week. I read on the internet that symptoms of E Coli usually begin within 3-4 days, but could be as early as 1 day, or as many as 14. Any of my medial profession pals know anything about E Coli? Penny? Bridgette? Jan? Oh, and Jan, we are giving him ‘round the clock breathing treatments with albuterol until the cough is gone. Plus, she started him on Pulmicort, 2 x a day until this season has passed. Darn, we thought he was outgrowing asthma L

Last night, I added up the cost of meds per month for Stephen and me. $942.00! Shocker isn’t it? His disability insurance covers most of his, but I could pay a car payment with what mine normally costs!

 I was talking to a senior citizen client yesterday, rescheduling her hair appointment, and found myself discussing my health woes, right along with her for an hour on the phone. She is 74 yrs old. When I hung up the phone, I thought, “I’m too young to feel this old”  I used to be so energetic. Y’all keep Stephen in your prayers. I’ll update asap. Thanks!

Mia, you and Stephen are always in my thoughts and prayers. Please take care of yourself too. And you ARE young! Breathe, walk, meditate, rest, laugh, whatever you need to do to feel good in your body :) Love you!

Mia, I will include Stephen in my prayers & thoughts.... It's been a tough year for so many. My little girl (2) was just diagnosed with pneumonia yesterday. It's just so scary watching our kids when they are sick : (

Stress can sap your energy and what mother wouldn't be stressed when her child is sick. I pray your boy is better soon. My father grew out of asthma. Hopefully, your boy will too. My thoughts are with you.

I will surely keep Stephen in my thoughts and prayers. {{{ Raw Meat-Eating Stephen }}}

He'll be fine. Honestly, I think the chances of him getting anything from it are really slim. Think about it.. have you ever known anyone personally who had it? In all the daycares and schools we've been in contact, I can't think of one person. And I'm SURE he's not the first one to think raw meat might taste pretty good. LOL Little stinker. I'll be praying on his asthma and fever. And for YOU!! Poor dear. Luv you! :P

Poor Stephen. And poor you! Gosh all these health challenges in the house all at the same time. And Stephen keeps me in awe with his courage and cheerfulness. I hope you both feel better soon.

I think Mr. Stephen will do just fine with you to watch over him. How about you? Maybe you need to take some "Mental Health Time". How about a couple hours at the local Spa? Give yourself a break. My Regards, Bill.

If E-coli was in the meat it would be on the news and there would be a recall. He won't get that and that's for sure. When I was a wild hippie teenager, God forbid, we had a LOT of parties and the favorite thing served at these parties was raw beef sandwiches...they were delicious!!! A hamburger bun, a nice big patty of raw hamburger and a large slice of bermuda onion. yum yum. LOL. That Pulmicort will be a nice boost, but for the neb I would choose Combivent. But that's just me I gue

I got too wordy, sorry. I wanted to add...get a sitter and go out :-) and he's a little young to be outgrowing Asthma, that usually doesn't happen until after puberty. Did I fit in on the other post that I like Combivent better than Albuterol...but that's just me.....LOVE Stephen's picture, how beautiful. What a sweetheart.

Mia, I've been eating raw hamburger since I was a kid. I know many will find it disgusting but I also eat my steaks super rare. I haven't gotten sick yet. So, I think Stephen will be just fine. :-) ---Robbie

Hi Mia, just popping over to see how Stephen is doing. Sammi & Mikey are still quite sick, but both are on antibiotics, so I'm hoping they are on the road to recovery very soon.... Hoping Stephen is feeling better too... (((hugs)))

The little I know about E. Coli is that it's usually pretty fast acting. I'm sure he'll be fine, Mia. (As a mommy...I know. It's hard not to worry, isn't it?) =) That little Stephen of yours is one adorable little guy! Sure hope he gets to feeling better soon!
