This entry is about a little girl, age 2 1/2 who is fighting for her life, this very moment. A few weeks after school started, Stephen's bus driver asked me, "is your name, Mia? and did you used to work for Winning Trend Salon?" I told her yes, and she said that she knew that I looked just like the girl who did her family's hair, years ago. I asked how her boys are doing, & found out they are both in college. They were babies way back when I knew them. When their nest was empty, they found themselves being lead to adopt a baby. She and her husband adopted a baby girl 2 1/2 yrs ago, who has a rare type of Muscular Dystrophy. The Drs. said she may live to age 2. She has already beaten those odds. She requires 24/7 care, and her parents are so devoted to making what time she has, as happy and comfortable as possible. They have been at Children's Hospital all week, as she fights for her life. She has made a miraculous turn for the better, and the Drs are letting her go home this weekend. She hasn't been healed, or cured. Her time has simply been stretched a little. These are times I question God about justice, but I am reminded that all things serve a purpose. Most things we will never have the answers to, until that day when we meet our maker. I am praying that God comforts this baby, and her family as well. I can't imagine the agony that her parents are going through. Well, no, that isn't true, I can imagine. It's been long ago, but I haven't forgotten what it's like to see Stephen attached to the respirator, and the only chance he had was his will to live, and the power of Prayer. Please join me in prayer and light a candle for this tiny angel and her family. I have found the hardest prayer to pray sometimes is "Lord, Your will be done." Of course, I am in hopes that she will be miraculously healed, and I know that it's possible. I've seen miracles happen. Stephen is one. He was given a year to live. So far, it's been stretched to 11, and the outlook is good, even though, surgical repair is expected someday. I'm thankful for each day. Someday, when I have time to write about it, I'll share an example of how God worked a miracle for Stephen. I know what it's like to take one day at a time. My heart is breaking for this family, and I appreciate you all joining me in prayer. I'll keep you posted.
This is an inactive blog I was going to lose on AOL as they are closing the doors on the AOL journal community. So,with their help, it was migrated safely to blogger. .... Whew!

Friday Special Olympic Bowling
(if you are unable to view the album, click refresh key. maybe it'll work)
I apologize for so many photos. I take lots of pictures, and wanted to share every detail of our Friday event! Stephen did very well this year! This was his 2nd year to bowl in the Special Olympics. His two strongest areas are bowling and soccer. He doesn't care much for the other sports, so far... Still, his very favorite is soccer. I know this, because he did not cry yesterday when we left the bowling alley. He pitched a conniption fit, the day we left the soccer games, in October.
Our weekend is supposed to be a rainy one. I know this, bc I noticed on the way home yesterday, the cows were all laying on the ground. And my arthritis is dealing me fits this morning. Don't laugh about the cows, predicting the weather, you learn a lot when you live next door to a cow pasture. :-P (really, it's a fact)
I hope you all have a safe and happy weekend! What are your plans?

Is it Wednesday, already?
Hey everyone! With a little pampering and TLC from mom and dad, looks like Stephen is on the mend enough to go to Special Olympics Bowling this Friday! In fact, If his fever doesn't return, I'll send him to school tomorrow. He is so bored, and ready to be around his friends. Unlike me, he is a social butterfly, much like his father. A perfect day for me, is having a nice, quiet day at home. I have pretty much turned into a hermit! I had to take my mom to the Dr. this morning, and I had to make myself get out of the house! I really need to be careful, I remember when I was younger, I went through a stage where I actually had a phobia about going out in public. My boyfriend (that feels weird to say) at the time-made me go out in public. I'm thankful he did, now. At the time, I thought he was being a control freak, practicing his psychology on me. But, as it turned out, he was doing me a big favor..because of him, I got my drivers license (also a little late, babyshark) Went back to school, then went on to cosmetology school, which everyone had big bets placed on, that I would flunk bc I was too quiet to be a "talkative hairstylist." But, enough of all of that. As I was saying before, I can feel myself slipping back into that old shell. My palms get sweaty when I have to get on the busy streets and go places! I find it hard to sleep the night before appointments, I hate to go to the grocery store, church...or, anywhere. I find myself having to make myself get out and do things, and I intend to keep fighting this, b/c Stephen needs me to be his voice, I have no choice, but to stand in front of people and talk "for" him. It's agony for me at times. Taking my mom to the Dr. this morning, my mind drifted back 20 years ago to that old boyfriend of mine, who was so determined to "practice his psychology on me"as I put it, and I am so thankful that he did,or I would very likely be like my mom, who is almost 70 and doesn't drive a car! However, it's something I battle more these days. Why? I wonder.
Anyway...Click HERE to see Stephen at the 2003 Special Olympics Bowling, where he won 3rd place! Maybe Friday, we'll be back with more pics to share

Yoo-Hoo! I'm still here!..somewhere...
Yes, I'm still here, somewhere in this pile of "stuff!" I know you've been wondering about me. Thanks for all of the e-mail. I'm so sorry, I haven't had a chance to reply to most. I just wanted to make a quick post to let you all know I'm still here, and it's nice to be missed. Gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling to know you all care. :)
I really am just now, getting a half second opportunity to sign on and update. My husband and I are sticking to our unspoken New Year's Resolution of getting our house in order. It has been most time consuming for us! Especially when I suffer from adult ADD. (really, self diagnosis) We take more pictures than Sears Photo Studio! Gosh, O mighty, I'm the world's worst to find a package of photos and sit there for hours, going down memory lane. Next thing I know, I have all this crap pulled out into the middle of the floor, and it's time for the bus, and I haven't even taken anything out of the freezer for supper, and eek-I still have my pj's on! I need help. I am a sentimental packrat. My husband's been really good at helping me decide to throw things out, or donate things. So-to make a long story short, it's been more difficult than I thought. I started this task last Monday and....let's just say I'm almost 1/2 way there. But, It's nice to see some breathing space, and...I have to admit that at the same time, it bothers me to see a corner with nothing in it! Oh, how I wish I were an organized person, like I used to be.Yes, I used to be very structured and organized (with only a trunk of treasured items) Just curious, are there any others out there like me? (Please, say yes!) What do YOU have a hard time letting go of? Talk amongst yourselves, have some coffee. My hubby has found ::gulp:: a box that I must go through and find things to part with! Oh, the agony... btw..I have a hard time letting go of books, cards from friends, clothes, shoes...or, anything with a warm memory attached to it. It's the memories that I feel I'm letting go. Something I read in "White Oleander" and try to say to myself when I am having a hard time letting go of "stuff"..."So, if you want to remember, just remember!" Then, put it in the box. ::pouting, anyway:: I'll update soon! Have a nice, long weekend!
PS~ Sorry I made everyone crave tacos the other day :P

Testing 1-2-3
Hm, Well, ain't that something? Today, it decides to work! The last couple of days have been a bad AOL-J nightmare that I've heard most of you complain about, and I have now experienced it for myself.
By the way.. That's me up there. Just me. Have I ever posted a photo of just--me? Or talked about, just...me? No. It's almost always Stephen, my husband, my cats, or some other member of my family. And you know what I've discovered? Dang, I'm a boring person...I really need to get out more! I'm gonna work on that, so y'all can get to know me a little better. Maybe I will get to know me a little better.
What am I, Mia Renee' feeling at this moment... Hungry. I'm feeling, hungry. I want tacos and lots of 'em! I have almost 2 hrs. before the bus gets here, I'm off to Taco Bell! Maybe, just maybe something interesting enough will happen, so I'll have something to talk about next time I get on here... (wish me luck, I feel as though I'm developing a phobia about getting out, it's so rare that I do..I'm like a hermit!)
updated @ 4:00:: 1st: No, I did not get my tacos! 2: I know I mentioned in the comment section about the problem I'm having with my digipics looking splotchy after I load them to my journal. But, I wanted to note the spot on my lower lip..I admit, that is no camera-splotch..I was trying to open some of Stephen's meds that are in a foil pack with my teeth b/c my hands are not very strong, I have arthritis in my right hand (I'm right-handed) and, anyway I cut a major slash in my lip! Ouch, every time I smile, it hurts. So, try to..not make me laugh, okay? LOL! (ouch!)

My AOL journal is NOT okay. I've been trying to post entries and add photos from hometown and/or YGP and just not happening for me. I see that others have been able to post, so I guess it's just me, or my machine, or my aol? I've been in touch with AOL-live-help (thanks fer nuttin') I give up. I was, however able to finally make an entry in my other journal
the title is, "Weathered" Hm, how fitting. Oh, you'll understand, once you get there, see the graphic and read the story (which, btw I was unable to "edit" after I read some of my typos. Then..unable to "save" as well. I am, however, feeling even more "weathered" after trying to post the darn thing since yesterday! SO-I am going to unplug the ol' 'puter and get some much needed rest. I worked double shifts for the last 3 weeks with 4 hrs of respite! That, somehow,
Sorry this is so screwed up, having to do this via IM!
Anyone care to comment? I'll check the comments. Not going to make entries for a loooooooong time :)
