Fallen Officers

I am delaying the entry I had prepared for today to have a moment of silence for these three brave men who lost their lives last Thursday while attempting to serve a misdemeanor warrant in Birmingham.

The suspects are crying police brutality as their defense.  They claim they were being beaten. Numerous drugs and assault weapons were found at the scene.

[The officer pictured in the middle had plans to stop by the bakery that afternoon to pick up his little granddaughter's birthday cake for the party they were having for her that evening. He was looking forward to planning his retirement.]

Oh, what a sad, sad tragedy.  I'll be praying for the families.  The officer on the right looks soooo young.  This happens far too often, in too many cities across America.  When are we going to stop looking outside our own country for terrorists and realize we have them right here in the US, on every street corner, in every town.  ::sigh::  I just don't know what to say.

Mia ... this is a very disconcerting entry.  It just doesn't make sense.  There is a lot of work that needs to be done ... and, we're appreciative that so many have dedicated their lifes to making a difference in this world.  For the men who have died this week, those they left behind, and those left on the streets our heartfelt prayers to them.  Thank you for bringing this to the light.

Oh Mia...I watched the memorial service on TV and just cried.  Did you see the Chief of Police singing?  She has a beautiful voice..it just choked me up.
This is such a sad situation.

                              IMPACT
Sorrow brings a tear in eye and brings a tear in soul.

The mind knows right but doesn’t care, emotions rule the flow.

Oh, how I cry and how I shake. My rage is uncontrolled.

I am at loss to stem this thing. My sorrow’s taken hold.
