Yes, we're still here...
Thanks everyone for asking about us, and sorry that I haven't gotten around to replying to all of you. This has been a hectic week, and next week will be even more hectic for us. This is IEP season. I have been going back and forth with his IEP draft. I am trying to get more services for him. 30 minutes a month of occupational therapy, and 30 minutes a week of physical therapy, just isn't getting it. Not to mention, I feel he needs more one on one with speech. [lack of state funding, etc..] I have found out that the state of AL cannot afford ESY [extended school year] but there will be some sort of routine for the summer, but not near enough. Therefore, I am turning to a program funded by the Easter Seal Foundation, where he can possibly get these services. So much red tape, yada, yada....
I wish I could tell you all that you haven't heard from me because we've been planning our summer vacation, and other fun things. I wish I could say that I've been busy redecorating. But, no... not anything fun at this time. I have been looking at paint samples for the kitchen. I finally ripped the old wallpaper off that Stephen and the cats started peeling a while back. :P We are also looking at new floor covering, or maybe even hardwood for the living room, and some sort of tile for the kitchen. It all depends on my husband's business. When you are starting a new business, that pretty much sucks in all the extra cash. On that note, the business is off to a good start. We've actually had to turn business down. I'll tell you about that bit of news later, when I have more time. I know that I haven't mentioned the fact that he decided to go into business for himself. We...didn't see eye to eye on that, but I'm feeling a little more comfortable with it now. [a little] What else are you to do when no one is hiring anyway?
So, there is my quick update. I feel out of breath, just typing it.
Hubby asks this morning, "what do you want for Mother's Day". {usually, he doesn't ask, he just buys flowers) I didn't dare say what I really want [a vacation, alone, and a stack of books!] Nothing fancy, really, I want a new chopping/cutting board for the kitchen, and [maybe] a new set of dishes. I'm a very practical person, no?
Happy Mothers' Day! I'll make more pictures today at mama and daddy's to post later. Her flowers are so pretty right now, and daddy's tomatoes are already growing so nice. Till next time, whenever that'll be...

Have you checked with the Shriner's Organization? They were a big help with my cousin when she needed extra services. Good luck :) You are a GREAT mother!!
Man, am I glad to hear from you!! I am happy that you are busy and not dealing with some type of catastrophy. I know you will get Stephen's IEP worked out so that it gets him the best help. Good Luck with the new business. Happy Mothers Day to you. You are an exceptional Mom. My Best Regards to you all Bill.
Happy Mother's Day Mia!!!! If Webster had known you when he created his dictionary, I'm sure he would have included a picture of you as part of the definition of a Mother. Your love, strength, and resolve humbles me. :-) ---Robbie
Happy Mother's Day Mia! Go for that vacation alone. I always think it's funny that Mothers have to spend the day with their families on this day...when really, all they want is some peace and quiet. Whatever you do, enjoy your day. Love you.
Happy Mother's Day {{{{{Mia}}}}} I pray you get through the IEP process with less stress that you expect. I hope things work out that you can get the services you want that {{{{{Stephen}}}}} needs. I'm also wishing for continued good luck for {{{{{Paul}}}}} with his business...and I do hope that YOU get that vacation!
Love,
Vivian
Yes, you are very practical. You should be impractical for a change. Ask for some time off to pamper yourself (I probably sound like a broken record, I've been saying that in the last three or so entries!). Trust me it will do you wonders!
Again, happy Mother's Day!
I hope you had a lovely Mom's Day. Did you get pampered just a little bit???? I hope so, you deserve it.
You and I have so much in common. LOL I was just writing this morning about how I wanted "practical" stuff "for the house". Hel thinks I'm nutz. He doesn't see those as "real" gifts, but like you, I probably couldn't get the things I REALLY want anyway [week in Europe with my sisters!!]
Good luck with IEP. Sounds like a lot of work. And yeah, I can see where your husband starting his own business might make you nervous. But it's better than nothing, right? And hey, lots of people have gone on to be VERY successful by owning their own business. It could be great for ALL of you. I'll keep my fingers crossed! :D
And Happy Mother's Day to you, Mia! You deserve those new dishes.... and so much more. ::smile::
Happy Belated Mothers Day Mia!!! I hope that you get thru IEP well and I wil keep you in my thoughts and prayers as always :)
I cant immagine the paper work they have have you fill out. I missed this post. AOL alerts is not sending them to me. So now I have saved my journals on the side in mine to click on each day. GEEESZZZZZ you can get behind very fast. SOunds like you have been busy getting the kitchen done. YOu need to take before and after pics to share with us all. WE had pergo installed (the laminate flooring) its easy care and not really hard to do and fairly affordable. I love it too. Dogs cant scratch it iether. I do hope you get all the services you need. Hope your mothers day was wonderful. I bet your husband going into business on his own was scarry. I dont blame you. I am glad its working out though. Please share your news when ever you have time. Dont sound like your gonna have much for a while. If I was there we could have a party to come over and tear the wall paper off. Thats the easiest way to do it. Is have a cook out and freinds. Lori
nice to see you again Mia :) missed you.
you have been busy....I hope you get what you want concerning stephen. what a pain to have to go through red tape like that!
and wanting practical things is what I want too. It makes sense to get something you use all the time, something that will make chores or life easier, more enjoyable. Instead of getting something you would have to dust more, or feel guilty about not using enough. :P
can't wait to see your flower pictures. :)
How wonderful to have roses in bloom and so pretty too.
Just a little advice and lecture. When your dear husband asks you what you want for a gift, always, always, always say something personal. A nice scented hand lotion, bubble bath, a new hair brush, a satin pillow case...get the idea. That way you will think of him using those things. And he will notice the scent and enjoy that too. Just my nickels worth. It's a hard job getting funding, you are such a wonderful mother.
Happy late Mother's Day!
Thailand is a beautiful place... I'll send you some pics when I get back.
Hot, too!
Hope you're all doing well...
