We hope you all had a happy fourth!
We had a very nice and laid back day. In fact, it was so laid back, we didn't even cook. Mama and daddy bought bb'q and all the "fixins" from a local restaurant. That was nice, very-nice. I do regret not making a peach cake. I was looking forward to baking one and posting a recipe entry. Maybe soon...
At 9 PM our town had our annual fireworks show. We found a great place to park. [..and the people who lived there didn't even mind!] ::sigh:: Our small town now has a population of more than 25,000 people, so there is NEVER anywhere to park.
In this photo, I was able to get a shot of the grand finale! I used to love watching the fireworks. Since I was a little girl, the symbolic meaning, mixed with the awesome lights and sounds of the fireworks show would always put a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat. Now, I enjoy watching Stephen's face as he watches the show. I still get a tear in my eye, and a lump in my throat. Have you ever watched a child's expression when they are in awe? It's worth missing the fireworks to see...

So glad you had a good time. It's nice to have a brief escape and just have fun!
Great picture! I say you can only post that peach cake recipe if you send me a piece too! Peach cake sounds divine! :-) ---Robbie
Mia- Glad to hear you had a great 4th. I would loved to seen Stephen's face as he was watching the fireworks.
Hugs!
yes childrens faces are so excited and in awe. of these kinds of things. Ourtown had the cheapest fireworks show ever.!!!! I t was so fast (you cna see the fireworks from my moms house no problem our town is a little over 35,000 ) I could not get a pic of them. Thanks for sharing yours. I have gotten to see several that way. makes me feel better. the ones on my journal are of our own fireworks. Hey you dont have to bake the cake topost the recipie Lori. Maybe you should have posted a pic of stephens face with the fireworks.
Happy 4th of July too Mia, even if I'm a day late. Great photo! John of "By The Way..." has a fireworks photo on his journal and how hard it is to get a great shot, I think you did! My day was spent alone, The Girl was with her daddy, and we had a nasty thunderstorm here right about the time any fireworks shows would have taken place.
Hmmm, Peach Cake, that sounds good. I got nostalgic last night when I poked my head outside while it was raining and I could smell charcoal and steaks...that I missed!
Hugs to you and Stephen!
Love you, Penny
You are so right. Seth was at his Dad's on the 4th this year so I dont know if he saw them or not but I know he would be more scared now....I will love to see his face thou...I bet Stephen had a fantastic time!! :) Happy late 4th!!!

Wow, great photo Mia! Glad to hear you enjoyed your 4th. Did you happen to get a picture of Stephen's face during the show? I'd love to see that! 25,000 people huh? Come to LA for a minute. ;)
I'm really wishing I had gotten a good picture of Stephen's face. I think nearly every comment said so. He was practically in my lap. I would have temporarily blinded him with the flash, but ... darn, what a Kodak moment!
hi mia. I am glad your 4th was a happy one :) mmm "fixins" I have never heard of peach cake, yum. I love peach anything :p post that recipe soon :)
and yes, there is nothing like the expression on a childs face when they are in awe, I totally agree!
::hugs::
I was so busy trying to take good photos of the fireworks that I was forgetting to WATCH them. So I put the camera away and enjoyed the show instead. J. was unimpressed. She was more thrilled with the little glow in the dark necklace that her Grandpa bought her.
Peach cake!! Yum... I usually make a white cake with white icing and decorate it with some red and blue, but we were too busy this week. Next year! :D
Oh, watching the children's faces during the fireworks, is definitely worth missing a few myself.... Just loved the look of awe in Sammi's face and Mikey never stopped smiling. Sounds like you had a great 4th of July : )
BBQ sounds yummy!
Glad you enjoyed your holiday!
lovish!
