Thursday Sweep Rolls Over Into Friday...

Whew! I love my SIL...but she's not kidding when it comes to "clean sweep!" Thursday was going to be the master bedroom. Turned into just the closet, and 3 dresser drawers! {gulp}she hasn't seen the books under my bed! She has diagnosed me with a shoe, photo and book sickness. I was only able to let go of 1 book, no photos, but lots of shoes! Yeah! I'm down to only 21 pair of shoes. I'll never tell you how many I actually had in the beginning, but it was enough to shoe every man, woman and child in my neighborhood! My poor husband, God bless him-only has 4 pair! *btw-which is correct when referring to more than one pair? Pair of shoes or Pairs of shoes? I've heard this both ways but usually say "pair" myself. Like I say, pant instead of pants.*

Stephen's dad got home from work early on Thursday and was able to watch Stephen for an hour while we worked. She insisted on going to Bed Bath and Beyond to choose things for the closet. I would have gone to Walmart.  I was amazed with her organizing skills! She's in the wrong profession. Yesterday, after she got off work, she brought her sewing machine over and for the first time since I was in home ec. I got behind a sewing machine and made curtains, with her guidance of course. It's easier than I remember. (I dropped out of home ec. after I made a disco skirt, which came unraveled one day before 2nd period and my brother had to bring something else for me to wear. How embarrassing that was) Why am I putting curtains over my closet you ask? I have one of those closets with the sliding doors that keep coming off track. This was a convenient fix for that. I've gotten a bit wordy. I've had 2 cups of coffee and no breakfast and it's almost 10 am! Stephen slept late but is up and ready to go. Next week is spring break. It's going up to the 80's with lots of sun today and we're getting out of here! Have a nice weekend!

Mia I wish your SIL was my SIL I need some help in being more organized. Things were so beyond my 'skills' that I paid a cleaning service to come in here on Monday. They did a great job...I blame it on my addiction to my journal and my neglect of my household chores :) Hello to Paul and Stephen!

Viv!-hugs to you! Hey, there's no shame in admitting we can't do it all! For me, it was liberating. I've found the key for me personally is to toss things that I really can live w/out. I have NO space and become cluttered very easily. My goal is to be able to spend more time doing things I love such as aol-j and have less clutter to worry about :)

Hey Mia! Just wanted to stop by and say enjoy your beautiful First Day Of Spring!!! Love to Stephen~RC~

Wow Mia. Sounds great. What size shoe do you wear? For more than one pair - I say "pairs" when referring to shoes but "pair" when playing poker. <shrug> I was hired to do for a friend what you and your SIL are doing. Took us a few months to get through it all. 3 yard sales, multiple trips to the dump and tons left over to donate. Still she kept 6 giant tubs of pictures, mountains of books and 4 trash bags of stuffed animals. Get this: a curtain in place of a sliding closet door!

RC-I wasn't even aware that today was the first day of spring. Thanks for telling me! And thanks for stopping by. You're always welcome!

Freee-:) Isn't it just like me to ponder such silly things? Pair or pairs? lol I wanted to add that I do say pair of pants not pair of pant. I say, shirt and pant or pant suit. etc. Like everyone cares what I say :P Oh, yeah..Curtains are the way to go for those doors.

Mia ... Now that you mention it, we seem to remember a kulot outfit that never made her debut in public. Hmm. Recall something of a drawstring that was supposed to make things easier ... Eh, somethings better left in the past *giggle* I'm all for you all getting out in the sun ... they don't say, "Boys grow like weeds," for nothin! It was a gorgeous day!! Blessings spread liberally to all your household. Ayn and all

Ayn-I am the same way. I have things that I bought and was going to wear but never got around to it bc we don't go "out" that much, so I donated them so some one else can enjoy them :) Yes, it was a beautiful day! In fact, we spent most of our time outside. Tomorrow a cold front is coming in after storms tonight :(

Freee-I forgot to answer your question. I wear a 6 1/2-7..depending on who made it, what style it is etc...

Bed Bath and Beyond! My favorite place to shop! I've dropped a bundle there since moving to my own apartment. Smart move on making your own curtains. That's one of the first things I bought for my apartment. I hate blinds! Talk about dropping a bundle when all was said and done. EEEEK!!! :-) ---Robbie

Robbie-I'm beginning to hate blinds too. Especially since Stephen has learned how to mangle them to no end. Oh, yes, I love BB&B, but it's way too expensive for me. However, I found out that when they have a clearance sale, they have great prices that are hard to beat!

I need a Thursday Sweep!!! My gawd, woman, you and your shoes!!! LOL.. that's insane! You're a true Southern female! tehehe.. And hey, learn as much as you can from your SIL on the sewing and organizing stuff. It really comes in handy, right? I wish I knew more about that stuff. :)

Libby and I would like to borrow your Sister In Law. We are "pack rats' and need someone to help us before it is to late. Help! we've falled and the stuff is piling up on us! Hey, when it hits 80 degrees take Stephen to the park. We went yesterday and had hot dogs too. Hello to Stephen, Regards, Bill.

SloMo-LOL, my SIL picked out a 3 level shoe rack that holds 18 pair of shoes, and I needed more space. Her last words before leaving were, I better not come in here and catch any of your shoes on Paul's rack! Yeah, I want to learn as much as I can from her. I'd love to take up sewing for a craft. At least the basics for curtains, etc.

Bill-I'll ask my SIL if she can come over :) I've recently learned that professional organizers can make pretty good money. And, she's looking for a career change. I'll tell Stephen hello for you. Glad to hear that you and Libby had a nice day! We had a nice day in the warm weather too. Had to get the jackets out today. Crazy, Alabama weather.

Mia, As you probably know this is my first visit to journal land since January. I checked in to see if mine even existed any more and it was still there just like I left it. I went straight to yours since I haven't heard from you lately and wanted to assure my self that you ever existed and weren't a figment of my imagination! I enjoyed reading your entries and see changes in Mia. Keep up the good work .You sound happy.

Brenda!-I went to your journal yesterday to see if you've made any updates. Hope this means that you have by now? I know you've been super-busy with the magnolias :) Yes, I'm still around, just move a little slower than usual these days :P (I save all speedy moves for chasing Stephen)

I have 5 pairs of shoes....Amelia Marcos, I'm not. But thinking you'd give her a run for her money, lol... Think your SIL would consider coming to help me after? Man, I sooooooooooo need to Spring clean.

Anonymous said...

Wow, you did wonderful Mia! Your spring cleaning is humming along, and I'm sure it wasn't easy to part with loads of shoes (I know I'll have a hard time parting with my stash, lol). Btw, it's pairS of shoes, as pair of shoes is only one pair. Then again, I say pants instead of pant because I imagine "pant" as just one pant leg, lol.

song-I am working on it! I mean...how many does one need? It's a sickness :P
My SIL loves doing this stuff. I'm sure she would if you were closer :)

Muse-I am so glad that you and freee set it straight for me. Pair for describing a plural never did feel right :) I say pair of pants too. But say, i.e.: I have a nice pant to go with that shirt, or I bought a new pant suit etc. :P

Man...tell your SIL to come my way. I could really use her expertise. I've been fussing about the clutter around my house the last few days. I need to do the 'clean sweep' too! =)

BTW...I also have a shoe fetish. Before I moved...I have over a hundred pair of shoes. In order to consolidate, I took a bunch to GoodWill. And ever since Parker came along...I never buy ANYTHING for myself. But boy, do I love shoes! (And books...and pictures too!). I think we're a lot alike, Mia. =)

Bridgette-I'm so happy to know I'm not the only one with a shoe, book and picture fetish! :) I'm afraid I've fallen behind since spring break...oops :-/

Hey, I'm a single, black parent of 8 and 1/2 kids and I'm 17! none of them are twins, either, so I had my first kid when I was 9! no lie!
